Streetfighter Qualifying
I had never even sat on my brand new Tuono until the day before the
event, nor had I ridden at Oulton before and on top of that I had never
ridden a road bike in the wet before. Hmmm, plenty to learn for first
practic then. I was very tentative on the drying circuit for qualifying
as I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was absolutely loving riding
the Tuono though and the circuit was amazing. As I started to pick up
the pace I began to get more comfortable on the bike and then i spotted
my Dad waving at me franticly from pit lane. After another lap I pulled
in to find he had forgotten to put the transponder on my bike. Luckily
Thunderport GB are completely on the ball and had already logged the
problem and had managed to still get a time for me. I qualified 3rd
overall (Including the Junior Powerbikes and the Moto 450's) and 1st
in my class.
Finished: 1st (3rd overall)
Streetfighter race 1
It was dry for the start of the first race so I felt much more at ease.
Having said that I got a rubbish start and just to bed myself in I did
the first few laps in around 3rd position. When I made myself comfortable
I got through into the lead and managed to pull out a healthy margin
to take the win.
Finished: 1st
Streetfighter Race 2
It kept showering before the 2nd race but the circuit was dry. I again
got a poor start and bedded myself in. It kept raining on one corner
and then it would be dry at the next, the conditions were really difficult
to ride in as you never knew what to expect. I got into the lead again
while it was fairly dry and tried to make a big gap so if it did rain
properly then I could take things very steadily. I got about 8 seconds
in the lead and I could see the dark skies looming overhead. As the
hailstones battered down one rider went down and the race was red flagged
handing me the race win in a slightly shortened race.
Finished: 1st
